CWDC Announces Tour of Country to Meet Children and Young People’s Workforce

The following item was received from the Children’s Workforce Development Council. In view of the importance of this consultation, we are printing their announcement in full.

The CWDC has announced the dates and locations for its Regional Tours. The organisation is visiting the nine English regions to meet the children and young people’s workforce, share ideas and gain feedback on current and future projects.

Jane Haywood, Chief Executive and Estelle Morris, CWDC Chair will visit a range of settings including childminders’ homes, children’s care homes, Connexions services, nurseries, schools, foster families and providers of local children’s social services to discuss how the organisation is there to help the sector become part of a world-class workforce.

Commencing in June, each regional event will see Jane and Estelle spending the day visiting a variety of settings to speak to professionals followed by an evening reception for representatives of the local workforce including individuals from local authorities, service providers and social services.

Estelle Morris, CWDC Chair comments, “The support of the children and young people’s workforce is crucial to CWDC. These Regional Tours are a real opportunity for professionals to share ideas and tell us what additional support they need to help them deliver the very best service to children, young people and families. I am very much looking forward to meeting the individuals we are here to help.”

Jane Haywood, Chief Executive adds, “Keeping in touch with people who are actually delivering services for children and young people is important to CWDC and these Regional Tours are an ideal opportunity for individuals to share feedback. I am constantly amazed by the commitment to children and young people that exists in the sector and I look forward to sharing our plans for future projects and hearing about how we can be of further help in supporting this crucial part of the workforce.”

The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) aims to improve the lives of children and young people. It will do this by ensuring that the people working with children have the best possible training, qualifications, support and advice. It will also help children and young people’s organisations and services to work together so that the child is at the centre of all services.

CWDC works in the interests of a range of sectors covering about 500,000 workers, including early years and childcare, education welfare and social care for children and young people. CWDC is one of five bodies forming the UK Skills For Care and Development Sector Skills Council and coordinates the Children’s Workforce Network.
